68th District Update

Old Outlook: Likely Republican
New Outlook: Safe Republican

In a race that looked interesting for a while the opposition has fizzled and Brad Marrs is going back for a third term as Delegate.

So everyone knows, we were looking at 3 races to possibly move from Safe GOP to Likely GOP. The 1st, 13th and 91st. The 1st is no longer under consideration to be moved, but we are still looking at the 13th (Marshall) and 91st (Gear) as "Likely" instead of "Safe" winners.

Can you give us any details on this one? How has Mars's opponent fizzled? Is this a money call or do you not expect Kaine to do as well in the district as many had once suggested?

What, no rationale at all for this one? Just saying Katherine Waddell has fizzled doesn't mean she's fizzled. What's your evidence? Her fundraising is still fairly healthy from what I can see. She's got a message that carries far more resonance now with the new Supreme Court nomination and Kilgore saying he'd support a total ban on abortions (with possible exceptions for rape and incest if it's reported within 7 days...gee, thanks for that week's worth of compassion.)

When Marrs first one this seat, he won with only 41% of the vote in a 3-way race. Then he was unopposed in '03. If Waddell can mobilize the 35% of Democrats and 24% of independents who voted for someone other than Marrs in '01, why shouldn't she have a decent chance? Do you have some inside knowledge that the campaign is poorly run?

Pretty shameful post. Don't even bother if you are going to post crap like this. I don't think you can cite one postive thing for Marrs now vs. 2 months ago. please post more like this b/c you'll just look more stupid when your wrong in Nov. And please...if Marrs wins by 1% this was not a "Safe Republican" Seat

Waddell's primary strategist left last month. I would say that's a pretty positive development for Marrs.

Kaine will help Waddell, but with 55%+ of the district in Chesterfield, I don't see how she gets more than 45% (max).

Isn't Mrs. Waddell just a one issue candidate, essentially favoring abortion on demand? I've never seen her find a partial-birth abortion restriction she could support. That's called being out of the mainstream.

Maura...with 12K on hand I would not call Waddell's fundraising healthy. Marss has 40+ on hand. How do you expplain your position?

There is little to no activity on this Richmond race. I haven't seen either candidate out working

I just deleted all 3 comments about Ben being NLS. Stay on topic please!!!

Maura, sources close to the Waddell campaign have called the candidate "tired" and the campaign "over". So we are calling this race for Marrs.

Time to open up a new thread on 75...neither candidate has money...what happened to the Republicans wanting this one so badly?

At 12:49 PM, Blogger Not Larry Sabato said...

NPG, soon we will. Almost back up there.

NLS: sources "close" to the Waddell campaign say she's tired?

I'd offer the Waddell campaign this opportunity. Come on here, and say, "NO, she's not tired and is running." Come on. Come do it and this whole thread will be pure BS.

At 1:12 PM, Blogger Not Larry Sabato said...

Centrist, don't you think the campaign would say that no matter what?

Maura,

I agree, allowing a child to be executed because it's mother was a victim of rape or incest is certainly not showing it much compassion.

At 2:38 PM, Blogger Virginia Centrist said...

Yes. But don't you think your BS sources (disgruntled democrats or something) are lying or have an agenda? Who are the sources? What are the merits of their claims? This site has very little credibility already, and we're supposed to believe your anonymous sources?

If you don't like it, don't read it. We're coming very close to making this a no comments site. There's no reason we have to defend every source to you or anyone else Virginia Centrist.

VC-why are you suggesting that disgruntled Ds are behind this post. I just made a few calls and Ds are still excited about this race. I don't like the fundraising numbers that I have seen, but, I am told there is a solid plan in place. I am also told that Ed Barber and Panny Rhodes are both being helpful. If there arefolks that are disgruntled it is not the D high command.

nteresting...both challangers are matcing the incumbents in the 13th and the 91st...the challanger in the 91st is an independent..sure hope he leans Democratic

Even in the most sexually liberated and self-satisfied of nations, many people still yearn to burn more, to feel ready for bedding no matter what the clock says and to desire their partner of 23 years as much as they did when their love was brand new.
The market is saturated with books on how to revive a flagging libido or spice up monotonous sex, and sex therapists say “lack of desire” is one of the most common complaints they hear from patients, particularly women.
