Summertime Blogging

Major Announcement

We are thrilled to announce two celebrity bloggers that will be joining us every Friday this summer!

Virginia Senator Ken Cuccinelli is well known as the "Campaigner in Chief" for the Virginia GOP. Ken will be offering his opinion on one House candidate, or issue affecting House races each week.

Presumptive Virginia Delegate-Elect David Englin made a major point in his campaign of wanting to be a Democrat that helped other candidates from his seat. He'll use our platform, along with his very able wife Shayna, to highlight his opinion on one House candidate, or issue affecting House races each week.

We're calling this weekly series

"The Cuccinelli Cocktail vs. The Englin Elixir"!

Check back next Friday for the first installment!

Until then, we'll keep up our review of the primaries and where they leave us for the November elections.

Ken Cuccinelli is my hero ... thank you NLS for providing an outlet for such objective commentary to be posted. NLS is such a rockstar ...

Ken Cuccinelli is my hero too! I'm so glad he'll be on here. I can't wait to read his columns.

I remember the last time Cuccinelli jumped onto the blogs:

That was hilarious. I can't wait.

Woah, woah, woah, guys. Ken was my hero first. I'm his #1 fan. Read my name, for proof. It's right above "woah, woah, woah".

Good move, NLS! I don't know Englin all that well, but Cuccinelli will definitely spice things up. Even those who disagree with him agree he's pretty bright.

Not Mark Rozell ... where's your star columnist?!

At 2:17 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Will we be allowed to comment on Cuccinelli posts, or will he ask us to abstain?

There will be a comment section. And please 2:16 anon- let's not compare the two blogs. They serve two different purposes. NMR's blog is the George Foreman Grill of blogs, cheap and it doesn't always cook the meat even. My blog is the Ruth Chris Steak House of blogs, high powered and always perfect. There's room for both.

mmmm- Commonwealth Conservative for Dinner, with a Cuccinelli Cocktail and the Cuccinelli Compass for desert. It's like a complete meal!!!

At 2:30 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

NLS: Yes, but did you get my joke?

At 2:31 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Ken has sex appeal. He needs to flaunt it some time. You know - have some affairs. Soil the old oats. It's never too late!

Has anyone ever met Senator Cuccinelli? I saw him once, but was too scared to walk up and say anything to him -- I was star struck! I really hope he runs for higher office ... I hear his campaigns run like a machine and I would like to help out on one of his races - and get the chance to vote for him!!!

NLS - will Sen. Cuccinelli be responding to comments on the blog, or will he only be posting commentary?

I'm outraged! This man tried to kill me and stop me from making new friends and now you're allowing him to post on here??!?!? I'm all for diversity of opinions, but how can you let Ken Cuccinelli post on here? HE TRIED TO KILL ME

Who cares about what Englin and Cuccinelli have to say. Give Bulova's pants and Sabato's rug their own blogs. That would be a great.

I'm looking forward to the Elixir. I don't drink GOP cocktails.

C'mon, NLS. I can understand you're threatened by my new blog, but let's not bring down a perfectly good cooking device in the process. Besides, most of us working stiffs are quite fond of our George Foremans. :)

As for the comment about celebrity bloggers, we don't need 'em just yet over at the Eight Ball. Still got our own brains to use over there.

NMR, Maybe we should settle this over dinner at Ruth Chris in D.C. when I am up there next Wednesday. My treat, I've always wanted to have dinner with the Congressman from the 11th District.

Only if I can bring my grill...

At 8:36 PM, Anonymous Simon said...

Maybe Englin can start by doing a column on the effectiveness of negative campaigning.

At 9:38 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Maybe Simon could start by commenting on the effectiveness of whining.

At 11:06 PM, Anonymous Ken said...

With high-quality commentary like this, I may need to rethink this...

Ken Cuccinelli

I thought that Englin had a Republican opponent. Don't you have to wait until after the general election to call him "Delegate-elect", even if it is just a formality? He is an interesting guy who waged a great campaign in his district. But it might be even more interesting to get a Democrat who has been to districts outside the Beltway to weigh in too.

At 11:30 PM, Blogger Not Mark Rozell said...

Senator: Come on over to my blog. I'll even lend you my George Foreman grill, since I think we're fellow cheapskates. :)

At 11:54 PM, Blogger Not Larry Sabato said...

Anon- You are right, I corrected that. David Englin also asked me to correct that, he wants people to know he takes the November election seriously.

As far as the clerk of the House is concerned once the winner is called here they are elected. That's because of our 100% accuracy.

NMR, I thought you didn't need celebrity bloggers? Did you use up your own brain that quickly?

At 12:48 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Easy to be 100% when the only races you call are the sure things

At 8:04 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I agree you were 100% correct in your primary predictions, of course you did not pick a winner in 8 of them.

For the general election, I will call all the easy races, label the tough ones "toss-ups" and we can both be 100% accurate.

NLS - as you know credibility is the coin of the realm in the blogosphere and that goes double for those who use unknown campaign sources and practice the political arts anonymously such as yourself.

Calling your primary predictions "perfect," "100% accurate" is draining your credibility "bank account."

At 9:25 AM, Anonymous Genevieve said...

ok, ok, enough of this. Who knows anything about what Chris Gregerson (Englin's opponent for the 45th) stands for? I've heard that he's a more, um, less conservative conservative? (wow... my vocabulary is top notch today!)

NLS, the blog is great. I'd like to see all the anonymous people who are complaining maintain this blog at the level it is at now. If you can't, shut up. If you can, get your own damn blog.

At 4:54 PM, Anonymous Larry Sabato's Hairpiece said...

Ken Cuccinelli is the Campaigner in Chief? Where did THAT come from? Because he endorsed borderline-felon Steve Chapman? What campaigning did he do that was more or less than any other major elected official not on the ballot thus far?

If Ken is the campaigner in chief then Larry Sabato has real hair making me a fraud.

At 5:25 PM, Blogger Not Larry Sabato said...

LoL. You are too funny hairpiece.

At 6:09 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I pledge $50 to any candidate or cause David Englin writes about every week!!!

At 8:00 AM, Anonymous Simon said...

Anon

It might be whining, but the guy is a tool.
