Story of the Day

The 18 districts where there is a House primary are driving the turnout statewide.

Much higher turnout in areas with a House primary, competitive or not.

Winners from this: Baskerville, Petersen, Byrne, McDonnell, Connaughton
Hurting from this: Bolling, Baril, Puckett

We'll see if anything is close enough to make that kind of difference.

UPDATE: 3 P.M.- We are having trouble setting up the chat. Can anyone else help with this?

Werkheiser had every precinct in the 42nd covered today with tables, sometimes multiple volunteers, lit, chum, etc.

Great work by Werkheiser! That guy's on the ball, that's for sure. I wish there was Kaine stuff out everywhere...

I saw Leslie Byrne at a poll today in Arlington. Surprisingly she did not get good reactions from people walking into the voting booth. Which was surprising since I thought she'd do good in Arlington.

An Albemarle precinct, but in the 57th District (Toscano, Tingley, Collins)

At 3:30 PM, 30 Rs had voted and 65 Ds had voted. I'm guessing this is around 7% turnout.

From www.fredtalk.fredericksburg.com

-----------------------------------
I just got back from voting and I am disappointed. I voted at 12:30 at Ni River Middle School. I was the 86th voter of the day. That's only about 9 an hour. VERY LOW TURNOUT so far.

In Staunton at 6 p.m., I was the 86th voter in my precinct. If I understood them correctly, there were 66 Rs and 20 Ds.

Report from the 'rents in Camelot (Westernmost Annandale outside B-way between Gallows Rd & 236.)

Shockingly enough there were more Democratic voters than Republican but again low turnout as of late morning. Poll watchers in a chatty goofy mood with mom due to boredom.

About 46 Dems
About 40 Reps

Could be again higher Dem turnout hiding Chap Petersen votes as he won this precinct in 2001 & 2003.

Annie, actually he lost Camelot in 01 and 03'. But in 03' he won every other precinct in the 37th, whereas in 01 he lost his home precinct. HIs manager must have been an idiot in 01

Actually Annie that is the only precinct in the 37th Chap has never won
