37th- GOP

We can now project former Fairfax Mayor John Mason as winning the GOP nomination for the 37th District over Jim Kaplan.

Like Ed Robinson in the 35th, here is another example of a candidate who just moved into the District to run and expect to win. While John Mason got into the race several months later, he is known in the community and those who have lived in the District for some time worked long and hard to deliver Mason's message and his victory. Perhaps Jim Kaplan, who is a nice man, will stay in this District and plant his seeds for a future run.

Mason won and ran a better campaign.

But have you seen Kaplan's house? Did you know his old house? He did not move to run - he could've run against Shannon. He ran where he did because that's where he got an awesome house that was much closer to his synagogue. And his wife chose the neighborhood - not Jim. Politics did not enter into the move.

This move to run theory is very silly. Jim tried to buy five houses in the city before winning the bidding on his place. When he started, Chap was running for reelection. It would have been stupid to move from Shannon's district to run against Chap. Jim's many things - but not that stupid.

Don't know if he'll run again. But he's surely not moving.
