Snore.......

Raising Kaine has an interview today with 37th District House Candidate David Bulova. If you want to keep up on this race, read this interview. I'm not bashing Lowell, who asks some good questions, trying to get to the point. But Bulova's responses, are the most bland, boring thing I have read this cycle. Seriously, I was falling asleep reading his answers. It's so obvious they were written and reviewed by so many people that every bit of interesting information was whitewashed out. This guy wants to follow Chap Petersen? See anything like this classic line coming from Bulova?

"This commonwealth started in 1607," Petersen said. "When Jack was elected to the legislature, he did one term but then he was elected again in 1997. So essentially for 390 years we survived without him in the legislature."

Update: Just got an email from someone asking me to add this while we are talking about classic Chap quotes (this week): "I'm not an ordinary person".

Just read that second article. Memo to Chap: You need 4 seats, not 3.

Me again. Also, Chap, you have to hold your 16, which won't happen with Colgan and Houck retiring.

I can't decide between Chap and Leslie in the primary. It's tough. I'd vote for Chap if I could believe he wasnt saying what I wanted to hear to get himself elected. I'd vote for Leslie except I'm not sure how a woman would fare in these parts.

Petersen definitely has a knack for sound bites, but did anybody read his platform? Change the composite index? Please...does he have no concept of political reality? Or, is he just more concerned with getting elected? I tend to sympathize with the liberal, but this guy is clearly just courting votes.

On a different note, in my view, Bulova is committing political suicide with this race. He loses, he's out for at least 5-10 years.

NOVA 20 year old- Suicide in the primary or in the general? Could you explain further?

NLS, Bulova ran for some Conservation seat in 2003 and lost. If he loses this primary too, it will take a toll on his public image. A guy that keeps running, and keeps losing, isn't a candidate people want to get behind.

Take the Jack Rust vs. Chap Petersen example, Rust ran for his seat against Chap knowing that if he lost, he was out of politics forever (or at least 5-10 years. Thus making him too old to run). It was an obvious gamble. However, keep in mind, that in Rust's case, it showed courage and a fighter's mentality--especially because he ran a much better race in 2003. But, with Bulova, it just shows a big fat loser.

p.s. as a side-note, I think the 37th would have been much better off with Rust rather than Petersen. Rust and Petersen have similar platforms (although I bet neither would admit it). The difference is Rust has exceptional performance but never boasts to constituents, whereas Petersen has shitty performance but does a great job explaining his victories.

nova 20 year old- sounds like you followed things closely until election day. Bulova won that seat- and as the top vote getter in the history of the conservation board.

No, NLS, he didnt follow anything cloesly, he thinks Jack Rust was a good guy.

Back to Bulova. Lowell's questions were excellent.

nova 20 year old - you are clearly an absolute idiot. you seriously need to change you diapers.

Whoops, it appears I misunderstood Bulova's situation. I apologize.

In regard to the 'absolute idiot' comment, I have no reason to change my mind when people vomit nasty comments in my direction. If I upset you, why don't you simply explain your position like a normal person. Foolish comments like that only confirm my original thoughts.

Perhaps it is best to either put this on a different blog or--judging by the profound comments afterwards--leave it alone entirely.

Again, I apologize.
