#8 of the Top 10

#8
42nd District, incumbent Dave Albo (R), part of Fairfax County

Outlook: Likely Republican

Democrats have a strong challenger in young attorney Greg Werkheiser. The district went for John Kerry last year, so this should be a potential pickup.

But Werkheiser has a long way to go before this can be called a close race. Albo has never received less than 60% of the vote in this district. While the Lorton area has had a population surge, new voters are less likely to vote in a state election.

Werkheiser's best chance is Albo looking past this election. We'll keep our eyes focused on this election to see if that's happening.

Werkheiser is such a little bitch, I can't believe he made the top 10. You should see the whiny whiny stuff he says in the press. And I hate how he picked this district to run in. It's like he looked over all 100 districts and decided "I should represent this one". Go Home Greg (wherever the hell that is!)

Hey Dave, is that you? How'd you find us so quick? :)

Here's the view from Charlottesville, home of PROTECT, a child advocacy group:

This bill certainly can't help Albo's chances:

Crime Commission Chair Soft on Child Sexual Abuse - Del. Albo Introduces Bill Gutting Protections for Children

Whoops! I'm not sure how many child molesters live in Albo's district, but I'd imagine that the democraphics don't work in his favor on this issue. He should conduct a poll to be sure though.

Hmm.... that might be worth moving this race up a few notches. Thanks for the link.

No problem. Also, the following article really pushed Werkheiser's stock up in my mind (they've got it on their campaign website now, it's so nice to them):

I'm back. It figures someone from Charlottesville wants Werkheiser, the little bitch. You can take him, I have lived in Springfield my entire life. I don't want him.

Kilgore/Albo. For Springfield. For Lorton. For Virginia!

Anonymous: Werkheiser co-founded the Virginia Citizenship Institute (now merged with the Sorensen Institute) and they educate young people on responsible civic engagement here in Charlottesville. They take equal numbers of Republicans and Democrats each year - perhaps you should apply and they could teach you some manners?

I've met Dave (at Boys State, many years ago), and he's a nice guy. You don't serve him well with your nasty comments.

He came to my door with a sticker for the traitor on. Then after he gave me a pitch for John Fonda, he mentioned he was running for Delegate next year. When I played dumb he acted like it was an open seat. Finally I just told him "Sir, we already have a Delegate, and a damned good one. Get lost!"

You say that online, but I'd like to hear from Greg if anyone ever said that to his face.

Ummm....I doubt it. I mean...if you post anonymously, you can claim all sorts of things.

Hi. I'm going to retire now. I don't have enough money to run.

See what I mean?

Anyway...ultimately, I'm amused by people who stop by to trash candidates. I'm impressed that so many partisans have found this blog in such short order. This points to some fun house races this year!

Thanks Dave for your retirement. I'll only occupy this seat until something better comes along where I can speak in places other then Lorton! Then ya' can have it back.

Wow, if this is what an Albo supporter looks like, Werkheiser should win, no problem.

Hmmm. I'm not sure how effective the "This guy's a rising star and might run for a higher office some day!" attack will be for the Albo campaign. But if you want to try it, by all means, do so.

I agree with Wahoo!!!

Hello. This is a message from the graveyard. We were all routed by Dave Albo. We thought the voters in South County wanted a liberal. We were wrong. Werkheiser, please drop out and let our campaigns rest in peace

Ha! Werkheiser ain't no liberal. This guy is a bipartisan as they come - think Sorensen Institute in Cville. Not that it matters, since liberal Kerry won that district and it's trending towards the Dems with lots of new voters.

Speaking of liberal - isn't Dave Albo against the 2nd amendment?

Not really, but do you honestly think Werkheiser will vote pro-2nd, ever? I wouldn't be surprised to see him marching up front with Sarah Brady. Remember this kid is a disciple (and formeer employee) of the Presidents Clinton.
